If you bet your big hands and do not play slow then you will confuse your opponents and you will be performing a double bluff, most opponents especially amateurs will think you are bluffing and you are guaranteed of some betting action from someone and eventually you will get lucky and win.
You should bet your good hands because you once you don’t you give your opponents a chance to see your cards and every time a card is turned over they could be changing their losing hands into winning hands. there are situations were playing slow is always advisable, that is when you flop a hand that is almost unbeatable this is the time to slow play your hand and you can be sure that there plenty of hands that some one else might be holding that they consider to be good and you might get lucky and get an all-in opponent.
